Our specialists for renewable energies and energy efficiency!
Katie Brown
Katie Brown went to study Mechanical Engineering at the University of Strathclyde in Glasgow, Scotland. She worked for Arups for two years as a building services engineer working on heating and ventilation system design, in particular on the New Justice Building in Antwerp, Belgium.
In between times she has been involved with a development charity in Kenya, working with street children in Nairobi and doing a water supply project.
The past 6 years Katie has spent working with renewable energy systems at the Centre for Alternative Technology in Wales, UK (www.cat.org.uk). Whilst there she did several domestic solar thermal and wood fuel installations as well as working on domestic pv systems, on- and off-grid, wind and hydro.
The most recent larger project was the installation and integration of a woodchip Combined Heat & Power unit for which she did the heating system design. The major ongoing development at the Centre for Alternative Technology is building a robust strategy for achieving Zero Carbon Britain status by 2027.
This is being expanded to Zero Carbon Europe. Having recently moved to Berlin Katie hopes to continue working in this area and developing sustainable and practical solutions for the world we live in today.
