Fewer pitfalls in the planning and financing of wind farms
By: RENACRENAC wind courses can help in avoiding costly mistakes during planning and financing of wind farms
Berlin - 2010/02/03 Poor planning, errors in the logistics, construction delays owing to overlooked permits are just some of the risks in the construction of wind parks which can drive the costs to undreamed of heights, both in the short and long term.
Advanced planning can avert these and other, similar gaps during the design and financing stages. In the three-day RENAC wind courses possible pitfalls in planning and financing wind farms are discussed, and approaches for preventing and mitigating of risks identified. Participants learn how to identify and assess the risks involved in building wind farms and how to specify planning procedures.
The courses are aimed at engineers, operators and investors and focus on cost structures, risk management and methods for reducing the build and operating costs of wind farms. The aim is to raise the performance of wind power plant by minimizing the insurance risks and increasing the security of the invested capital. The seminar sessions will be complemented by demonstrations in the RENAC Training Center in Berlin.
Albrecht Tiedemann, RENAC's course leader and Director of Wind and Grid Integration, is an expert on wind energy and has many years of experience in the national and international wind energy sector. Among other projects, he has been responsible for the design and execution of numerous national and international investigations and studies on the integration of offshore wind power.
