To celebrate Global Wind Day, the Renewables Academy invites those interested to an open day about wind energy.
To celebrate Global Wind Day on 15 June 2009 the Renewables Academy AG (RENAC) will be opening its doors and inviting all interested to visit the RENAC Training Center for a program about training in wind power.
As well as a talk "Training for global wind markets" and a crash-course for journalists, there will be a guided tour through the RENAC Training Center. In addition a short documentary film will be shown about the TREE courses (Transfer Renewable Energy & Efficiency) – which are held for decision-makers from developing and emerging countries.
RENAC has just integrated the wind-energy sector into its latest program of English-language courses. From September, courses on wind power will be held regularly. Next to the technical content, issues such as planning and design of wind farms, procedures for planning approvals, policy frameworks, land use, service and maintenance, hybrid systems, small wind generators and financing are included in the program.
The wind industry is an important generator of jobs. According to the Wind Energy Report 2008 from the World Wind Energy Association, the number of jobs worldwide has almost doubled in only 3 years, increasing from 235,000 jobs in 2005 to 440,000 jobs in 2008. There is a correspondingly high demand for skilled labor by the industry.
Global Wind Day should increase global awareness of wind energy, and bring wind power closer to people. Over 30 countries are participating in this year's information day, organized by EWEA (European Wind Energy Association) and GWEC (Global Wind Energy Council).
RENAC's programme for Global Wind Day:
- 10:00 to 11:30 Crash course for Journalists in RENAC’s training centre (Experiments on power output of a wind turbine depending from shape, position and number of wings and wind speed)
- 19:00 Presentation „Education for Global Wind Energy Markets“, Albrecht Tiedemann (RENAC)
- 19:45 Short film about the TREE scholarship program for decision makers, high potentials and engineers from developing and emerging countries on renewable energies, energy efficiency and climate protection (TREE- Transfer Renewable Energies and Efficiency Project, 2009, 8 Minutes)
- 20:00 to 21:00 Guided tour through RENAC‘s training centre
