Applying Green Energy Finance is tailored to deliver a comprehensive, general introduction into green energy finance topics. It provides fundamentals of energy efficiency (EE) technologies and details about financing of energy efficiency projects. The international perspective of climate finance is covered as well.

Matthis Brinkhaus, RENAC
Current position:
Matthis Brinkhaus joined the Renewables Academy (RENAC) AG in September 2013. He was working first as a project assistant in the advanced online training of the capacity building programme on renewable energy & grid integration (ReGrid). Since June 2015 he has been working as a project manager in the three-year capacity building programme on renewable energy & grid integration (CapREG). He mainly develops new learning materials for the online training but he is also involved in face-to-face trainings and development of mobile exhibitions.

Professional experience:
Before joining RENAC, Matthis gained experience in different fields of energy at home and abroad. He worked for a German company developing hydrogen fuel cells, for a consultancy of the Indian solar market based in New Delhi and for a German company involved in micro-energy projects.

Matthis Brinkhaus studied Engineering and Business Management. He did his Bachelor of Engineering at the University of Applied Sciences Ansbach and his Master of Science at the Technical University of Berlin, graduating in May 2015. Throughout his studies he focussed on energy technology and energy economics. In his Master thesis he investigated the Indian balancing power market. Matthis speaks German and English and has advanced knowledge in French.
Alexander Boensch, RENAC
Current position:
Before joining RENAC’s Green Banking Team in 2016, Alexander Boensch frequently provided seminars, course design concepts and e-learning content for RENAC since 2008.

Professional experience:
Mr Boensch trained as a Financial Economist and held postgraduate positions in the banking and finance industry with a sector focus on energy for five years. Since 2003, he has been working as a Finance Consultant for renewable energy project developers, financial investors and public utilities being in charge of structured and corporate finance, risk and treasury management, procurement of capital, bank marketing and M&A activities. During the last twelve years of working in the European renewable energy industry, Mr Boensch was involved in renewable energy projects with an installed capacity of more than 750MW and successfully raised capital of approx. 1.3 billion EUR. In addition to his work in renewable energy finance consulting and training, Mr Boensch lectures on academic courses on corporate finance, capital markets and renewable energy economics at different academic institutions. He is also a member of the investment decision-making board of a well-established German investment company that exclusively funds renewable energy assets.

Alexander Boensch has a Master’s degree (M.A.) in International Economics and a degree in Business Administration, Finance and Strategic Management.
