Mini-grids are small-scale, decentralized electricity generation and distribution systems that provide power to a localized group of customers, typically in rural or remote areas. They are one of the main tools to provide access to electricity in various regions of the world.
The course provides a comprehensive overview of the entire value chain for mini-grids, from design and development through to installation, operation and end-of-life. The approach is both technical and financial, designed to cover all aspects of developing this type of project, particularly with a view to providing access to electricity in remote (off-grid) areas.
It also includes a simulation tool for modelling and analysing hybrid energy systems.
